Consultation on retail telecommunications record keeping rules9 Sep 2026
On 9 September 2026, the ACCC published a consultation paper that outlines the proposed new retail telecommunications record keeping rule. The new rule will require specified carriage service providers to maintain records on the retail services and offerings supplied across broadband, fixed voice and mobile telecommunications services.
We are seeking stakeholder views on the draft record keeping rule instrument, including:
- how records can be used to improve reporting across retail markets and consumer outcomes
- how to best outline the form of records.
We encourage all stakeholders to provide their views. This includes record keepers, industry participants, consumer groups and government agencies. Submissions close at 5 pm AEDT on 7 October 2026.
