What the ACCC does

  • We enforce the water markets intermediaries code prescribed in Part 5 of the Water Regulations 2008 and the trust accounting requirements in Part 5 of the Water Act 2007.
  • We provide guidance material for industry participants about code obligations.

What the ACCC can't do

  • We don’t resolve individual disputes.
  • We don’t give legal advice.
  • We don’t take enforcement action in response to every report we receive.

Information sessions

The ACCC hosted public information sessions on 19 June, 24 July 2025 and 18 September 2025. These sessions gave participants an overview of the new rules and when they start. They also covered how intermediaries can prepare themselves and the ACCC’s approach to compliance.
