What is included in the information statement
The information statement highlights issues to think about before becoming a franchisee.
The information statement includes:
- the risks of franchising
- doing research and due diligence
- questions a person should ask if they are thinking about buying a franchise.
When to provide the information statement
If a potential franchisee expresses an interest in a franchise, the franchisor must give them the Information statement for prospective franchisees ( PDF 73.82 KB ).
It must be given as soon as practicable but not later than 7 days after interest is expressed.
The information statement must be given to the potential franchisee before giving them any other documents.
