About the review
As part of addressing the ACCC’s 2019 compliance and enforcement priority into competition and consumer issues arising from customer loyalty schemes, the ACCC began a review of customer loyalty schemes with a focus on the major customer loyalty schemes available in Australia.
The objective of this review was for the ACCC to gain a better understanding of how customer loyalty schemes operate; the collection, use and disclosure of consumer data; and the terms and conditions of these schemes.
Following this review, the ACCC released a draft report for comment. A final report was released in December 2019.
