Quarterly reports on the petroleum industry in Australia have been prepared by the ACCC since 2015.
The ACCC monitors the prices, costs and profits of the major domestic airlines as part of a government direction. The government first directed the ACCC to do this in June 2020. This direction expired and concluded in June 2023. In November 2023 the government issued a second direction to monitor, until December 2026.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) produce an annual report each year, in accordance with section 63 of the Public Service Act 1999.
The ACCC is responsible for monitoring compliance with the Competition and Consumer Rules, the Consumer Data Standards and Part IVD of the Competition and Consumer Act.

The ACCC has been directed to monitor the prices, costs, and profits of home, contents, strata, and certain commercial insurance policies, before and after the government’s cyclone reinsurance pool was introduced.
The ACCC's corporate plan sets out the commission's purpose, objectives and the key areas of focus each year.
Under its current petrol monitoring direction, the ACCC produces industry reports on aspects of consumer interest in the fuel market.
