On 1 February 2024 the Australian Government directed the ACCC to conduct a 12-month inquiry into Australia’s supermarket sector to examine the pricing practices of the supermarkets and the relationship between wholesale, including farmgate, and retail prices.

The interim report outlines what the ACCC has heard from consumers, suppliers and other interested parties at the halfway point of the inquiry.

Our final report is due to the Treasurer by no later than 28 February 2025. It will set out our findings and, as appropriate, include recommendations to the Australian Government for action in response to the findings.
