On 30 July 2025, the ACCC issued a determination granting authorisation to allow the Australian Screen Directors Authorship Collecting Society to continue requiring its member directors to:
- assign to it their copyrights arising from the retransmission of audio-visual content
- distribute related income to its members and overseas collecting societies.
The ACCC considers that the conduct is likely to result in a public benefit and that this public benefit would outweigh any likely public detriment.
The ACCC has decided to grant authorisation until 21 August 2035.
