On 2 July 2025, the ACCC issued a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to the Australian Screen Directors Authorship Collecting Society Limited to enable it to continue to require its member directors to:
- assign to it their copyrights arising from the retransmission of audio-visual content, and
- distribute related income to its members and overseas collecting societies.
The ACCC proposes to grant authorisation for a period of 10 years.
The ACCC is now seeking submissions in response to the draft determination by Wednesday, 16 July 2025, before making its final decision. Further details about the application and how to make a submission are available on the ACCC’s public register.
