The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has noted that Goodman Fielder Limited has signed an agreement to purchase the Australian milling and baking assets of Bunge International Limited, ACCC Chairman, Professor Allan Fels, said today.

‘This proposal was put to the ACCC some time ago. The ACCC has advised Goodman Fielder, and Bunge, that it does not intend to oppose the sale subject to Goodman Fielder entering into enforceable undertakings to divest certain milling assets to ensure the relevant flour markets remain competitive.

‘The terms of the undertakings are currently being discussed and should be finalised shortly.

‘Details of the proposed undertakings are, at this stage, commercially confidential.
