Industry associations, competition and consumers

Date published: 23rd May 2011

Industry associations play an important role in providing a voice for individual businesses.

When working together, industry associations and their members must be mindful of their obligations under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (the Act).

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has a role in ensuring that industry associations provide maximum benefi ts to their members, the broader business community and consumers, and does this by enforcing the Act.
