Water charge rules for water planning and management charges, final advice – July 2010
Date published:
10th March 2011
With the commencement of the Water Act 2007 (Cwlth) (Water Act), the Minister for Climate Change and Water was given new power to regulate charges for water planning and water management activities in the Murray–Darling Basin (the Basin). In accordance with s. 93 of the Water Act, the minister has asked the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to provide advice on the development of water planning and management charge rules. Any rules must contribute to the Basin water charging objectives and principles, which are based on commitments made by states in the National Water Initiative (NWI).
The Final Advice was released on 24 July 2010 when the Minister registered the Water charge (planning and management information) rules 2010.
