Consumer guarantees for goods

As a consumer, you automatically receive certain guarantees when you buy, hire or lease goods.

There are nine consumer guarantees that apply to goods you purchase.

If a product fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a replacement, repair, refund or other remedy.

If you are entitled to a refund, replacement, repair or compensation due to a problem with your goods, make sure you get what you are entitled to.

Consumers often buy related goods and services together as a package or bundle. Sometimes a problem develops with only one part of the package.

If you are returning goods because of a problem, you have rights but you also have responsibilities.
