Fuel Consultative Committee (FuelCC)

Aims of the Committee

The FuelCC was established in 2010 broadly to:

  • provide an opportunity for meaningful dialogue between the ACCC, the fuel industry and motoring organisations
  • provide information to increase the ACCC’s understanding of fuel industry issues to assist it in undertaking its role under the Competition and Consumer Act on issues related to competition and consumer protection in the fuel industry

How the Committee works

Members are encouraged to provide their views and comments on issues in the fuel industry at FuelCC meetings. Examples of issues that members may want to comment on include:

  • insight into pricing issues and trends in the context of the ACCC’s monitoring role and other current market issues and developments
  • issues affecting consumers and how they may be addressed
  • potential issues affecting competition in the industry and how they may be addressed
  • issues affecting compliance with the Competition and Consumer Act and trends affecting the industry
  • issues within the scope of the ACCC’s role that the industry may face in the future, including trends in bio-fuels (such as ethanol blended petrol and biodiesel), fuel standards and other technical matters
  • other issues concerning the fuel industry as requested by the ACCC.
