provide an opportunity for meaningful dialogue between the ACCC, the fuel industry and motoring organisations
provide information to increase the ACCC’s understanding of fuel industry issues to assist it in undertaking its role under the Competition and Consumer Act on issues related to competition and consumer protection in the fuel industry
How the Committee works
Members are encouraged to provide their views and comments on issues in the fuel industry at FuelCC meetings. Examples of issues that members may want to comment on include:
insight into pricing issues and trends in the context of the ACCC’s monitoring role and other current market issues and developments
issues affecting consumers and how they may be addressed
potential issues affecting competition in the industry and how they may be addressed
issues affecting compliance with the Competition and Consumer Act and trends affecting the industry
issues within the scope of the ACCC’s role that the industry may face in the future, including trends in bio-fuels (such as ethanol blended petrol and biodiesel), fuel standards and other technical matters
other issues concerning the fuel industry as requested by the ACCC.
