Market definition
The ACCC considered the proposed acquisition in the context of a market for container stevedoring services. However, the ACCC did not consider it necessary to reach a definitive view on the geographic aspect of the market.
Competition analysis
In reaching the decision not to oppose the proposed acquisition, the ACCC noted that HPH did not have stevedoring or related operations in Port Botany, and that the entry of HPH would add an extra competitor at Port Botany.
