The ACCC and other regulator and consumer protection agencies receive a significant number of complaints every year relating to the advertising and promotional practices of the telecommunications industry. The ACCC has become increasingly concerned about advertising standards across the telecommunications industry.
In recognition of their position as market leaders in the telecommunications industry in Australia, and in order to set a new industry benchmark for ‘truth in advertising’ going forward, each of Telstra, Optus and Vodafone Hutchinson has provided the undertaking to the ACCC.
To address the ACCC’s concerns the parties have provided specific undertakings in relation to the most prevalent advertising practices of concern.
