Formal monitoring activities
Under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 the Minister may direct the ACCC to monitor prices, costs and profits relating to the supply of goods or services in a specified industry and give the Minister a report on its monitoring activities.
2011-12 monitoring activities
In 2011-12 the Minister directed the ACCC to monitor the prices, costs and profits of unleaded petrol products for one year and report to him by 17 December 2012.

2007-08 to 2011-12 monitoring activities
The government directed the ACCC to monitor unleaded petrol products and report to the Minister in December between 2007-08 and 2011-12.

- In December 2010 the ACCC released its third monitoring report.
