ACCC issues Telstra's supporting submission on access undertakings
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission today made public Telstra's submission supporting its access undertakings for various telecommunications services.
The undertakings relate to PSTN (interconnect) services, local carriage services (LCS) and unconditioned local loop (ULL) services. These are services used by Telstra's competitors to access the Telstra fixed network and compete with Telstra for local, long-distance, international, fixed-to-mobile, mobile-to-fixed and certain broadband services.
"Telstra's submission has been issued at this stage to provide interested parties with further information about the undertakings. The ACCC is consulting further with Telstra on its proposals. The ACCC is also collating the necessary material and preparing an issues paper to release with the undertakings", Acting ACCC Chairman, Mr Ross Jones, said today.
"It should be noted that the ACCC's formal consultation period will begin when the undertakings, the ACCC's issues paper and other information is released. This should occur within the next few weeks.
"Additionally, the ACCC will continue other work on the determination of indicative price and non-price terms and conditions as required under the recent amendments to the telecommunications provisions of the Trade Practices Act 1974".
Those interested in obtaining copies of the undertakings now should contact Mr Bill Gallagher of Telstra's regulatory area on (02) 9298 5597. Copies should also be available on Telstra's website by next week.
