Competition in rural and regional areas - an update from the ACCC

Summary
Higher prices in regional areas compared to metropolitan areas is not itself an issue if factors including market conditions, the cost of transporting goods and services, the overall volume of customers and profit margins are considered.
However the ACCC will become concerned if the conditions are dictated, not by the market but some artificial mechanism, such as price fixing, lead to higher prices in regional areas.
