Guidance and information

Franchisee education

During June the ACCC worked with interested stakeholders in the Northern Territory and South Australia to conduct seminars educating prospective franchisees about their rights and obligations under the Franchising Code of Conduct.

In Darwin the ACCC and the Franchise Council of Australia outlined the protections provided by the code and the importance of conducting due dilligence before entering a franchise agreement. In Adelaide the ACCC worked with the Eastside Business Enterprise Centre to provide the same message to South Australians considering purchasing a franchise.

Food labelling explained

The ACCC has released new guidance on product labelling, packaging and advertising. The Food labelling guide highlights the obligation of businesses to avoid making any claims or representations on a food or beverage label, package or advertisement that indicates that an ingredient is a predominant ingredient in that product if that is not the case.
