The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has varied the competition notice* issued to Telstra Corporation Limited so that it does not come into force until 19 June 1998.
"The competition notice was originally to come into force on Friday, June 5," Mr Rod Shogren, ACCC Commissioner with responsibility for telecommunications, said today. "Telstra has requested that the competition notice be revoked. The ACCC will consider whether the notice should be revoked and has invited submissions on that topic from Telstra and other interested parties named in the notice.
"The ACCC has requested these submissions by 9 June. The ACCC expects to make a decision on whether or not the notice should be revoked on 15 June 1998."
