Telecommunications access dispute

Telstra Corporation Ltd has notified the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission of an access dispute under Part XIC of the Trade Practices Act 1974. The dispute relates to the service known as domestic GSM terminating access* provided by Vodafone Network Pty Ltd, as the carrier, to Telstra, as the access seeker.

Accordingly, the ACCC has commenced an arbitration hearing. Neither the ACCC nor the parties will make any public comment during the course of the arbitration. MR 132/98 *Domestic GSM Terminating Access is a service whereby calls are passed from an originating network to be completed on a terminating network (in this case, a mobile GSM network).
