The Water Act 2007 (the Act) gives the ACCC responsibility for monitoring:
The ACCC is required to provide the minister (currently the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities) with reports on the results of its monitoring, consistent with an agreement between the minister and the ACCC. The purpose of the ACCC undertaking monitoring is to inform the minister and stakeholders more broadly about regulated water charges and transformation arrangements, and the degree of compliance with the rules, in the MDB. The ACCC has provided the first monitoring report to the minister covering the 2009–10 financial year. A link to this monitoring report is available below. Water Monitoring Report 2010-11The ACCC provided its second annual water monitoring report to the Minister in April 2012. The report is available for downloading. Printed versions of the ‘ACCC Water Monitoring Report 2010-11’ are available on request at no charge.
