Communications Alliance launched a web-based “one-stop-shop” - called 19SMS to provide consumers with a comprehensive guide to Mobile Premium Services (MPS). MPS - which offer a range of content and services such as ringtones, wallpapers, horoscopes, news updates - are charged at higher rates than normal mobile calls. Over the past few years there has been a surge in the number and diversity of mobile premium services on the market with an enthusiastic uptake by Australian consumers. The website aims to provide information to assist MPS customers when making a decision to subscribe to 19 services and to gain better outcomes when issues arise. Features on the new website include ‘19 Service Finder’, definitions and explanation of MPS such as billing model overview, how to unsubscribe and lodge complaints, and links to relevant organisations.
