Market definition
While the ACCC did not consider it necessary to form a view in relation to market definition, the ACCC considered the impact of the proposed acquisition on competition in the supply of mobile telephone services and on competition at the retail level of the industry.
Competition analysis
The ACCC considered that there was only minimal overlap between the parties. The ACCC noted that Crazy John's is an existing supplier of Vodafone handsets and plans and that there are a large number of alternative retail suppliers of handsets and plans.
The ACCC therefore considered that the transaction was unlikely to result in a substantial lessening of competition.
