Summary
Air New Zealand and Air Canada are seeking authorisation to give effect to a Cooperation Agreement to jointly promote and sell direct flights between Sydney and Vancouver, and Auckland and Vancouver.

The Applicants propose to pool and share the revenue from specified flights. The Cooperation Agreement also provides for the Applicants to harmonise sales policies which includes the ability to set specific fare levels, or agree to implement occasional tactical fares to stimulate additional demand.

Authorisation is sought for a period of five years.

On 27 January 2009 the ACCC denied authorisation to Air New Zealand and Air Canada to give effect to a Cooperation Agreement between the parties.
