Carbon claims and the Trade Practices Act

A thumbnail of the cover of this publication

Date published: 27th June 2008

The purpose of this guide is to inform businesses about their obligations under the Trade Practices Act 1974 (the Act). It examines some issues surrounding carbon offset and neutrality claims, and how they are affected by the Act.

The ACCC material on carbon offset claims is currently under review in light of the Australian Government's development of a Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS).

The ACCC’s review of this material will be contingent on the CPRS being finalised.
