The Magistrate Court deals with a wide range of matters including ACT and Commonwealth criminal matters, civil matters involving less than $50,000, workers compensation matters, matters under the Domestic Violence and Protection Orders Act 2008, fair trading matters and commercial leasing matters.
The Court includes the ACT Coroners Court and the ACT Childrens Court.
The Small Claims jurisidiction of the court, civil claims under $10,000 was transferred to the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal on 2 February 2009.
