Social media gives large and small businesses a new, direct way to interact with existing and potential customers, and promote their products and services. Businesses using social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have a responsibility to ensure content on their pages is accurate, irrespective of who put it there.

While businesses may use standard terms in consumer contracts to protect their legitimate commercial interests and improve efficiency, new unfair contract term laws which come into effect on 1 July are designed to reduce consumer harm in circumstances where consumers may suffer loss or other detriment due to a fundamental imbalance in bargaining power.
