The ACCC considered the proposed acquisition in the context of the national market for the supply of general travel insurance.
Competition analysis
On 25 February 2008, the ACCC formed the view that the proposed acquisition would be unlikely to result in a substantial lessening of competition. Factors informing this conclusion included that barriers to entry appear to be relatively low and there are a high number of substitute suppliers which offer comparable substitutes to the merged entity.
