Market definition
The ACCC considered the impact of the proposed acquisition in the local supermarket market surrounding the Super IGA located within the Kelvin Grove Urban Village on Musk Avenue, Kelvin Grove, Queensland. Kelvin Grove is located approximately two kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD. The ACCC also considered the impact of the proposed acquisition in the relevant Queenland market for procurement for products sold in supermarkets.
Competition analysis
The ACCC considered that the proposed acquisition would be unlikely to result in a substantial lessening of competition in any of the relevant markets. Among other things, the ACCC took into account the existence of other competitors in the relevant local area which would pose a competition constraint on Woolworths post acquisition.
