Market definition
The ACCC considered the relevant markets likely to be the provision of harbour towage services for single ports in Tasmania, and where two ports were very close together, the ACCC considered there may be markets for harbour towage in port areas.
Competition analysis
The ACCC determined that the potential competition in the market prior to the transaction was likely to have been limited and was unlikely to have changed following the acquisition. Subsequently, the ACCC formed the view that the proposed acquisition was unlikely to substantiallly lessen competition in the relevant market.
