Competition analysis
The assets to be acquired from OMG Kokkola include interests in several Australian nickel mines. These mines are very small relative to both Australian and world nickel production. As the acquisition will lead to only a small increase in Norilsk's share of the national and global nickel markets, and Norilsk will continue to face numerous competitors or varying sizes, it appears unlikely that the acquisition will lead to a substantial lessening of competition.
