International Competition Network

Australia is a participating member of the ICN. The ICN will discuss specific projects and then contact members to recommend the best practices for possible implementation. These initial projects are:

  • the merger control process in the multi-jurisdictional context, and
  • the advocacy role and activities of competition authorities where a particular effort will be made to focus on the concerns of countries with new competition law regimes.

The ICN merger review working group is responsible for addressing the challenges of merger review in a multi-jurisdictional context. The working group comprises three subgroups. Through these subgroups the working group will focus on the following areas:

  • merger notification and review procedures
  • analytical framework for merger review, and
  • investigative techniques for reviewing mergers.

For more detailed information or for specific merger inquiries, please contact the ACCC infoline on 1300 302 502 or visit the ICN website.
