The MTAS in its current form was first declared on 1 July 2004 and expired on 30 June 2009. This declaration occurred as part of the ACCC's Mobile services review, the final report of which is available below.
On 28 May 2009, the ACCC concluded its public inquiry into the mobile terminating access service declaration and decided to extend the declaration for five years until 30 June 2014.
