Market definition
The ACCC considered the acquisition in the Queensland market for the manufacture and conversion of flexible polyurethane slabstock foam.
Competition analysis
The ACCC has previously reviewed matters in the foam industry. This matter involved the acquisition of a foam manufacturing/conversion business with facilities in a single state. The ACCC considered that the acquisition was unlikely to substantially lessen competition in the relevant market. Among other things, the ACCC took into account the existence of two other foam manufacturers in Queensland, relatively low barriers to expansion, combined with low customer switching costs.
