Summary
The jurisdictional derogations to the NEC relating to the provision of metering services under FRC expire 1 July 2004. This application relates to the Victorian regulatory framework for metering arrangements. The proposed amendments extend Victoria's current metering derogations whereby metering services are provided exclusively by Distribution Businesses.

The Commission granted authorisation of the derogations subject to a condition of authorisation. The authorisation enables distribution businesses to be the exclusive providers of metering services for small electricity customer. The condition of authorisation specifies that all remotely read meters will not be subject to the derogation, regardless of the frequency with which those meters are read. The derogation is to expire on 31 December 2006.
