News for business—resale price maintenance

A4 brochure: This News for business discusses illegal pricing practices known as resale price maintenance—vertical agreements made between suppliers and sellers on the price goods and services will be sold to consumers. Resale price maintenance is prohibited under s. 48 of the Trade Practices Act and is one of the largest areas of litigation for the ACCC.

Multiple listings

Some businesses, particularly those with mobile operators, may list multiple suburban contact numbers in the White/Yellow Pages, even though they have no physical presence in those suburbs. This is generally facilitated through phone diversions. These types of listings can mislead the public into thinking that the business not only services those areas, but has actual branches in all the listed suburbs.
