The Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia, (ITSA) is the Commonwealth government agency administering and regulating Australia's personal insolvency system. ITSA is responsible for administering the Bankruptcy Act 1966 and its related legislation, the Bankruptcy (Estate Charges) Act 1997 and the Bankruptcy (Registration Charges) Act 1997. The Bankruptcy Act creates the roles of Inspector-General in Bankruptcy, Official Trustee and Official Receiver. The Official Trustee's responsibilities under the Proceeds of Crime Act 1987 and the Customs Act 1901 are discharged by ITSA.
