Industry seminars—ACCC guidelines for advertising and promotion in the jewellery Industry (8 February - 5 March 2006)Following the 2005 release of the ACCC Guidelines for Advertising and Promotion in the Jewellery Industry, the Jewellery Association of Australia Ltd (JAA) is pleased to present a national series of Seminars for the information of JAA Members and NON JAA Members. The seminars will be presented jointly by representatives from both the JAA and ACCC.Ms Louise Sylvan, ACCC Deputy Chair, at the Australian Jewellery Fair launch of the guidelines on 5th September 2005 stated "The jewellery industry is on notice. The ACCC expects an overall improvement in advertising and selling practices and an end to misleading, deceptive and false practices." The guidelines set out the jewellery industry's rights and responsibilities under the Trade Practices Act. Since releasing the guidelines the ACCC and its state fair trading agency counterparts have been monitoring compliance with the guidelines, looking for an overall improvement in advertising and promotion practices.
