Access codes—telecommunications facilities

The ACCC has the power to make a facilities access code, under Clause 37 of Part 5 of Schedule 1 of the Telecommunications Act 1997, which governs how access to certain telecommunications facilities owned by telecommunications carriers, including mobile towers and underground ducts, is provided to other carriers seeking to install their equipment on or in those facilities. Compliance is mandatory and the code is enforced by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

The ACCC made a facilities access code in July 1998 which came into effect in October 1999.
