ACCC not to oppose WPP's acquisition of TCG

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will not oppose the proposed acquisition by WPP Group plc of The Communications Group Holdings Pty Limited, ACCC Chairman, Mr Graeme Samuel, said today.

"The proposed acquisition will not result in the ACCC's market concentration thresholds being exceeded.  Further, barriers to entry to the relevant markets are likely to be low", he said.

The ACCC examined the national markets for marketing communications services (including advertising agency and related services) and media buying services.
