ACCC discontinues some proceedings against alleged price fixing

On 15 August 2005, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission discontinued proceedings against three out of 18 respondents in relation to alleged price fixing of petrol in the Geelong area during 1999 and 2000.

The parties discontinued against are Pegasus Retail Pty Ltd and two of its Retail Business Managers, Mr Bruno Gallucci and Mr Andrew Pitman.

An application to discontinue, made with the consent of the parties, was accepted by the Federal Court, Melbourne.  The trial against the 15 remaining respondents in the matter continues to be heard before Justice Gray.
