About our graduate program

Graduates must have completed a three-year degree by the time the graduate program commences. Graduate areas of study could include, but are not limited to, law, public policy, financial modelling, industrial economics, and econometrics.

Our program focuses on providing graduates with a coherent combination of on-the-job learning and formal training. It is a major recruitment and training program that provides for individual needs and interests.

We have staff working at all levels and across all ACCC branches and in many APS agencies who began their careers as ACCC graduates.

Working conditions

2011 graduates will receive a starting salary of $51 483 p.a. as well as four weeks annual leave and generous personal and long service leave provisions.

After satisfying certain training and performance criteria, you will be advanced in your second rotation to the Graduate Australian Public Service (GAPS) classification B. At this level, 2011 graduates receive a salary of $54 257 p.a. At the end of the graduate year, you may be advanced to an APS4 classification with a salary of $58 942 p.a.

The ACCC is committed to providing excellent working conditions designed to balance your personal and professional needs. More information is available in the ACCC Enterprise Agreement 2010–2011.

Graduate activities

As a graduate your work in the ACCC could involve analysing key market sectors; assisting in assessing applications for collective bargaining, authorisations and notifications; the economic regulation of network infrastructure; or investigating complaints from business or consumers about possible breaches of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (formally the Trade Practices Act 1974). You may be involved in consumer liaison activities, product safety surveys, compliance research or a wide range of activities in our Corporate Division.

Our program is structured so that graduates work in a range of areas and take part in diverse activities.

Rotations

Graduates participate in three work rotations, each lasting 14 weeks.
