Current state of telecommunications regulation

10th March 2005

Conference

Australian Telecommunications Users Group Sydney

Summary

It is not now, and never will it be, the aim of the ACCC to stop Telstra from competing vigorously for new customers and markets and nor will we stop it legitimately exploiting its economies of scale and scope. What we are about is developing, to the best extent possible under the existing structure, a truly competitive environment in all aspects of telecommunications.
