Conference details

The sixth ACCC regulatory conference will be held on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 July 2005. The theme of this year’s conference is the relationship between essential facilities and downstream markets.

International speakers include:

  • Professor Janusz Ordover, Professor of Economics, Department of Economics, New York University, New York
  • Professor John Mayo, McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University
  • Dr Russell Pittman, Antitrust Division, Department of Justice, United States.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Relationships between essential facilities and downstream markets
  • Promoting competition in downstream markets
  • Economics of sabotage and vertical integration
  • Content and infrastructure in telecommunications
  • Efficient capacity expansion in rail transport bottlenecks
  • Access to water and waste infrastructure
  • Development of downstream competition in energy markets.
