Issues for consumers in global trading

23rd September 2004

Conference

Attorney-General’s Department International Trade Law Conference

Summary

A more open and global trading regime has important positive outcomes for Australian consumers in terms of choice and price/value offerings. The downside is that the scamsters have become smart about the technology too and honest businesses, consumers, and regulators need to do more to ensure that shopping and transacting online is just as safe as shopping in person at the mall.
