In early March 2001 the government asked the ACCC to examine the feasibility of placing limitations on petrol and diesel retail price fluctuations throughout Australia.
In response to the Reducing fuel price variability report, the Australian government requested the ACCC to continue monitoring and report back by the end of 2002 on the outcomes of the fuel pricing arrangements in Western Australia.
