The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission emphasised today that the international vitamin cartel presently being investigated by the ACCC only applies to a vitamins for animal nutrition purposes, ACCC Chairman, Professor Allan Fels, said today.

"Yesterday on Meet The Press I answered a question on the multinational vitamin price fixing case and its impact on Australia.

"In particular, the ACCC is pursuing multinational companies such as F Hoffmann-La Roche, BASF and Rhone Poulenc and their Australian subsidiaries with the view to establishing the impact in Australia of the overseas price fixing cartel.

"The ACCC wishes to make it quite clear that no other Australian companies are presently being investigated.

"For example, there is no suggestion that companies like Blackmores, Herron, Cenovis or Bullivant are involved".
