Report to the ACCC: recommendations on AMWAC process for provision of advice on medical workforce matters

This report presents recommendations on procedures and methods that should be used by AMWAC (Australian Medical Workforce Advisory Committee) in undertaking reviews of medical workforce groups. The main aspects of the AMWAC review process highlighted are:

  • the composition of AMWAC working parties and the process for monitoring and enforcing implementation of AMWAC recommendations
  • the methods for assessing adequacy of current supply of labour by GPs or medical specialists
  • the methods for forecasting future demand for and supply of services by GPs or medical specialists and on making recommendations on changes to labour supply.
